Internal Radiation Therapy
at Oasis of Hope
The Place for Alternative Cancer Treatment
Internal—radioactive materials are placed in the body near the cancer cells; this is also called implant radiation or brachytherapy to control the growth or spread of cancer.
In certain cases, your doctor may recommend a combination of these. Radiation is often used with other types of treatment, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy, which stimulates the immune system to fight infection.
Internal radiation therapy uses a radiation source such as rods, k ribbons, or wires that are placed as close to or inside the tumor, so it does as little harm to normal cells as possible.
